Map each cable run
Count the cameras you actually need and sketch the route from each position to the recorder. Include cable concealment, doorway crossings and future access. Keep the recorder somewhere you can inspect and maintain it without exposing it to visitors.
Do not choose on the resolution label alone
Consider the viewing angle, distance and lighting at each location. The useful outcome is a recognizable event that can be found and exported. Ask to see how playback and export work before treating a larger specification as a better fit.
